Beau Biden Recipient Jacqueline Means Introduces DE Girls to STEM Through Miss DE Teen USA!

2020 Beau Biden Educational Scholarship recipient Jacqueline Means kicked off the Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant this past weekend.  Jacqueline Means, (AKA Stem Queen) is the founder of the Wilmington Urban STEM Initiative for Girls designed to (in her own words), “inspire young, impoverished girls to participate in STEM [science, technology, engineering, and mathematics] in an innovative, fun, and academically inspiring way”.

Means wrote on Twitter, “I’m so beyond excited to talk about my platform and share why I’m so passionate about engaging girls with STEM! Through my organization, I’ve positively impacted over 5,000 young girls throughout DE . . . I know a lot of girls I teach will be watching the livestream on Sunday, and I hope that by competing, I show them that anything is possible when you believe in yourself!”  After her interview on Saturday, Means reflected, “It was awesome meeting the judges and talking to them about my passion for encouraging girls to embrace STEM!”

The Beau Biden Memorial Scholarship was founded in 2015 to honor Beau Biden’s memory by creating a scholarship that recognizes college-bound high school seniors from Delaware “who embody the virtues of former Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, who exhibit qualities of leadership, community, civility, respect, and a strong moral compass.”
