2020 Beau Biden Scholarship Recipient Alli Dayton Wins Academic Award in Miss Delaware Pageant
2020 Beau Biden Scholarship recipient, Delaware’s 2020 Miss First State and participant in the 2021 Miss Delaware pageant, Alli Dayton, walked away with several 2021 accolades after the 2020 competition was canceled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Allison Dayton garnered two preliminary awards including the Academic Award, the Debi Wilson Community Service Award, and was the 3rd runner-up in the overall competition. The Debi Wilson Community Service Award is named for the competition’s former Executive Director, Deborah Wilson, who passed away in late 2015 after a lifetime of service to her community.
After graduating from Sussex Academy in 2020, Allison Dayton began attending Gettysburg College, and in May 2021 she completed her freshman year with the distinction of being named an Eisenhower Scholar. Allison has been described by one of her teachers as “one of the sharpest, most meticulous, and dependable individuals whom I have ever worked.” Driven by her kindness and empathy, Allison would exemplify her leadership by serving warm meals to individuals experiencing homelessness in her local community.
At Gettysburg College, Allison has volunteered with the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program, and contributed to her school’s newspaper The Gettysburgian. She is also a Peer Learning Associate in the Gettysburg Department of Public Policy.
