A lot of people have innovative ideas for helping their communities and solving important problems. But many of these ideas never see the light of day. Many lack a workable plan or enough community backing. But some simply lack the financial resources to turn their idea into reality. Those are the people and projects we’re here to support.
The I Could Do Great Things Foundation doesn’t just fund great ideas. In addition to an idea, you have to have a concrete plan and a serious commitment. We want to understand what Great Things you intend to do, how you are going to do Great Things and how the money that you get will lead to Great Things.
Our funding criteria are simple
To apply for a grant, you can be an individual, a business or a community organization – but your Great Idea must have a charitable purpose and offer a fresh approach. We’re not interested in funding the overhead of a community organization – or a business venture intended to make a profit for the owner.
You’ll notice that our areas of interest are broad and deliberately vague. Are we interested in ideas that:
- Help children and families? Yes.
- Help animals? Yes.
- Fight hunger and homelessness? Yes.
- Increase involvement in the arts? Yes.
- Improve community health? Yes.
- Promote international understanding? Yes.
But we want YOU to provide the specifics. Tell us what you feel passionately about – and how your idea can make a difference.
Our grant making process is simple and straightforward
At the I Could Do Great Things Foundation, we strive for accountability, clear communication and a minimum of red tape. Simply download this application and send it back to us via e-mail or regular mail. The application form will ask you to:
- Describe your idea in detail
- Explain who your project will benefit – and how
- What outcomes you hope to achieve with your project – and how you will measure results
- Outline your plan for turning this idea into reality. That plan should answer the basic questions, “who, what, when, where, how long and what will it cost?”
Include at least two letters of support from people in your community who believe in the value of your idea – and your capacity to implement your plan.
There is no deadline for applying for a grant from the I Could Do Great Things Foundation. We will review and respond to your application as soon as possible after we receive it.
